First of all...

How does a tiny country like Israel hold the superpowers of the world hostage? This has been bothering me for decades, but as communication becomes more capable, it has been such a powerful image that the question must be asked.

I want to point out that I am not speaking of individual Israelis, who obviously have a wide range of opinions on these matters, but rather the Government of Israel. I know that if anyone reads this I will be labled an anti-Semite. It's OK. I am in good company with Noam Chomsky, and like Professor Chomsky, name calling will not change my views one bit. This is another of those terms, like terrorist, or communist in the 50s, that has lost it's meaning through overuse and misuse.

Now to the real issue. As I have watched during the last couple of decades, and watched the Government of Israel pounding the living hell out of the starving poor palestiniens, I have been struck by the unfairness and inhumanity of the actions I have witnessed. Then, when the Helicopter attacks within villages and towns to "kill terrorists" started producing images of entire families being murdered in thier homes (yes murdered - sorry, but no thinking human being can call the killing of a child righteous) and the endless bombings and restrictions of movement continued, I was struck by two things:

1. This is an ongoing holocaust. I am sure the ghettos in Poland were not worse. Evidently, even with all of the discussion of the holocaust, the politicians in Israel have forgotten it.

2. This is being done with my taxes. Without American support this would not be going on.

I for one DO NOT WANT MY TAX DOLLARS SPENT TO HELP KILL CHILDREN ANYWHER FOR ANY REASON!

Is that clear enough. I am sick to death of politicians excusing these atrocities as Israel somehow protecting herself. This is plainly nonsense. The goddamn emperor has no clothes.

So...What is going on? Here are a few thoughts:

1. We are using Israel to test weapons against real populations.

2. We are using Israel as a base of last resort in a middle east conflict, although Iraq is almost ready.

3. We are using Israel as our hit man in the middle east. This is both to take out people, and to take out government resources that we don't approve of.

4. We are using Israel to test the world waters yo see how much tolerance there is for atrocities.

I am sure you can think of others ...

By "We", of course, I mean the Government of the USA, regardless of who is in charge, not individual Americans, who obviously have a wide range of opinions on these matters.

Israel in turn:

1. Has become a nuclear force (the only one known in the middle east) with 200 or more nuclear weapons of unlnown size.

2. Seems to want to be the new Nazis. How ironic.

3. Has no moral compunction. See the wall for example.

4. Feels justified to break international law at will.

5. Seems OK with the Racist idea that it is ok to throw some people out of their homes in order to gain more space for expansion.

6. Is fine with using weapons outlawed by the international community against civilian populations. (White Phosphorus, cluster bombs)

I could go on, but you get the idea...

I grew up in the 50's (born in 1942) Back then the government knew how to hide this kind of stuff from the populace. I didn't find out until much later about things like the Shaw of Iran etc etc
Therefor, I was raised with a sense of indignation at people, and countries, who are bullies, liars, and thieves.

That is why I had to ask everyone...

Why are we allowing this?
What can we do about it?
